OMAHA, NE – A Saturday morning pancake feed hosted by the Urban League of Nebraska’s Education and Youth Development Department had an amazing turnout. The event, which was held as a fundraiser for the 2018 Cultural & Leadership College Tour taking place in the spring, had many supporters who came and donated in return for a delicious meal. The number of attendees was significantly higher than last year’s event, and the total amount raised exceeded 2016’s pancake feed fundraising efforts.
“This year’s turnout is the biggest I have seen. There were long lines just waiting on seating,” stated Education and Youth Development Director Tyrone Marshall. Tyrone added that the success of the event’s turnout has been influenced not only by the promotion and support from Urban League, but also the change of location to LoLo’s Chicken and Waffles. A few of the students who are attending the tour who donated their time to help with the pancake feed had also got offered a chance to work at LoLo’s.
Both students attending the college tour and most Urban League Staff members were there to volunteer and donate to the tour. Urban League of Nebraska’s Project Ready College Specialist Jeffrey Williams said, “it is so great to see students involved in volunteering for their fellow classmates. What they are doing here is simply amazing.”
The Urban League of Nebraska would like to thank everyone who attended this year’s fundraiser!
