The Event That Inspired Many to Make Change

This year’s African American Leadership Awards was a huge success! Urban League of Nebraska awarded eleven African American leaders on their endeavor to make change in the Omaha community. Their stories and their presence inspired the audience to make change in their own community.

The sold-out event was a reminder that, while we are a long way from breaking all barriers to prosperity for our most disadvantaged community members, there are leaders working diligently every day to lead us to that end. We hope African American Leadership Awards inspired future leaders to continue building resiliency in their respective sectors and communities. Your impact can be as simple but powerful as “giving girls a space to be,” as Ashlei Spivey, this year’s award recipient in the Young Professionals category described her work with “I Be Black Girl,” of which she is a co-founder!

We want to thank all of our staff, sponsors, and those who helped coordinate this event.

Please come again for 2020’s African American Leadership Awards on June 5th!
