Princeton University-At the Well/From the Fire Conferences
What are At the Well/From the Fire Conferences?
Princeton University hosts two annual conferences that have empowered and strengthened Black high school students personally and academically. At The Well Young Women’s Leadership Academy seeks to empower young women locally to become effective leaders globally. By promoting excellence in education, young talent will transform their communities. From the Fire Young Men’s Leadership Academy seeks to nurture and cultivate scholars by providing an enriching environment that combines leadership development through transformative education.
The Urban League of Nebraska is giving an opportunity to current Omaha Public Schools sophomores and juniors to attend either At the Well or From the Fire conferences at Princeton University. Urban League will facilitate the selection process for students. Eligible students will be those who are entering the 11th & 12th grade next year, 2020 – 2021 school year (or current sophomores and juniors). The dates for this year’s 2 – week conferences are July 19 – July 31, 2020. With funding that was made available from a very generous donor, all costs of tuition and travel for the students will be covered. There may be some expense for incidentals and excursions. The Urban League will screen the students who will compose the delegation from OPS and receive the financial assistance. For more information, go to www.atthewellconferences.org.
