ULN Employment and Career Services programs reduce poverty in our community by teaching individuals the skills needed to obtain and retain meaningful employment, aiding job-seekers in their efforts to obtain employment that pays a living wage, and connecting employers to a skilled, diverse workforce.
Finding a job can be frustrating. We’re here to help, providing the resources you need from career counseling to work experience opportunities. At the Urban League of Nebraska, you can:

Our Career Boot Camp is an intensive program designed to give participants the skills and training needed to work in a high-demand career field. The program is 3 to 4 weeks long, and participants receive a weekly stipend. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma and 6 months of continuous work experience. Hiring events are held throughout the year, including two large fairs: the Economic Empowerment and Employment Expo in the spring and the Celebrate Diversity Job Fair in the fall. The latter is our biggest job fair and is a collaboration with Omaha Diversity Week and the Omaha World-Herald. It attracts more than 50 employers and hundreds of job-seekers from across the Omaha metropolitan area. Click here for to view and register for upcoming job fairs.
In collaboration with the Empowerment Network, ULN administers the Summer Training, Employment Pathway & Urban Pipeline program (STEP-UP Omaha!), which provides career assessments, job-readiness training, and job placement assistance to students and young adults ages 16 to 21. For ten weeks, participants get real-world job experience and explore careers. They also have an opportunity to obtain long-term employment.

Working Wednesdays are hiring events that connect job-seekers and employers to fill immediate openings. Held every third Wednesday of the month, Working Wednesdays feature anywhere from one to ten employers representing a wide variety of industries or events may focus on a specific industry. WIOA provides supplemental education and job training to youth ages 14 to 24 and young adults 25 and older who are no longer in school and having difficulty obtaining employment and/or accessing traditional job training programs.
